A client who never sat in your chair says your colourist ruined her hair. Can you get that taken down? Often yes. Salon review removal works when a review breaks the platform’s own rules. Removal Lab prepares that case for salons, spas, barbers and nail studios on Google, Yelp and booking apps such as Fresha.
Checking costs nothing. A specialist looks at the review against Google, Yelp or Fresha rules in confidence and replies within one business day. If the case qualifies, nothing is paid upfront. You pay when the review is removed.
Why salons and spas need a different approach
Beauty is personal. A haircut, a facial or a set of nails sits on someone’s body, so feelings run high and reviews get emotional. Salons also run on bookings, which is good news for salon review removal. A booking system records who came, when, with whom and what they had done. That record is often the difference between “we think this is fake” and “this person never had an appointment”.
The other twist is that many salons have reviews in two places: a public profile on Google or Yelp plus reviews inside the booking app clients use. Each has its own rules. Good salon review removal checks both.
Which review platforms matter for salons and spas
Salon review removal covers every place your clients leave stars. These are the main ones.
| Platform | What its own pages say | How the salon reports |
|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Bans fake engagement, conflicts of interest (which can include current or former employment), harassment, personal information and posts on a competitor’s place made to harm it. | Report it from the profile and watch its status in the Reviews Management Tool. |
| Yelp | Its terms bar fake or defamatory reviews, paying anyone to post or remove a review and business accounts reviewing their own business or a competitor. | Owners report from the Reviews page of the business account, according to the FTC reporting guide. |
| Fresha | Publishes reviews only for appointments that went ahead. Bans attacks on people, other people’s personal information, knowingly false or defamatory claims and reviews of your own business by you, friends, family or staff. | Dispute review from the Online reputation area. Fresha aims to give an outcome within 48 hours. |
| Other booking apps | Each app sets its own review rules. We read the current rules of the app you use before filing anything. | Through that app’s own business tools. |
How salon review removal works on Fresha
Fresha gives salons a built in route. Its help centre lists these steps on desktop:
- From the left main menu, select Clients.
- Select Online reputation.
- Click the All reviews tab.
- Select Actions (the three dots) under the review, then Dispute review.
- Choose the reason that fits best and add any extra details.
- Click Submit.
On mobile, tap More in the bottom menu to open Clients, then follow the same flow. To check progress, select Actions and then Dispute status. Fresha emails the outcome.
Fresha’s rules are tight on timing. You can report a review within 3 months of the posting date. Fresha aims for an outcome within 48 hours. You can report the same review once more within 7 days of the first outcome if you have new information. While a dispute is open, the review is hidden from your Marketplace profile. A hidden review does not count towards your rating.
One Fresha rule worth knowing
Fresha’s review policy says businesses must not contact customers to change or remove a review, must not offer anything in exchange and should not filter who gets invited to review. Keep to them and your salon review removal case starts on solid ground.
How to report a salon review on Google yourself
Google is often the first place to look in salon review removal.
From your Business Profile, go to Read reviews. Beside the review, use the Report icon, choose why it breaks the rules and send the report. If Google finds no violation, the Reviews Management Tool offers a one time appeal. Our guide on how to remove a Google review covers each screen. For Yelp, see Yelp review removal.
Which salon reviews can be removed
These are the patterns where salon review removal has a fair chance.
The client who never came in
No booking, no card payment, no name in the system. On Fresha, a review needs an appointment that went ahead. On Google, content that does not reflect a genuine experience counts as fake.
A stylist who left and their friends
A stylist leaves to rent a chair down the road and a run of one star reviews follows. Google names former employment as one kind of conflict of interest. Fresha bans reviews of your business by staff, friends or family.
Remarks about someone’s body or looks
Some reviews attack a therapist’s appearance rather than the treatment. Google bans attacks on individuals and harassment. Fresha bans reviews that attack people.
Another client’s details or photos
A reviewer names another client or posts a photo taken in the treatment room. Google and Fresha both ban sharing other people’s personal information.
A serious allegation made in a review
Fresha says serious allegations involving the police or possible crimes are not handled through public reviews. It asks for these to be reported privately and removes such reviews.
What platforms will not remove
A client who hated the colour, waited twenty minutes past her slot or felt the price was high had a real experience. Those reviews stay. Salon review removal is not a way to tidy away honest feedback. Our page on what we cannot remove explains the limits. A calm public reply helps more. See how to respond to a negative Google review for wording ideas.
What evidence salons and spas usually hold
Salon review removal leans on records you already keep. You check them. We never ask for client files.
| Record | Where it lives | What it can show |
|---|---|---|
| Booking history | Your booking app or diary | No appointment under that name or phone number |
| Payments | Card terminal or till | No payment on the date in the review |
| Patch test and consultation notes | Client record cards | Whether a patch test or consultation took place |
| Staff rota | Your rota or scheduling tool | The named stylist was not working that day |
| No show and cancellation log | Your booking app | The client booked but never arrived |
| Exit dates | Staff records | The reviewer is linked to a former team member |
If the records show a real visit and a real complaint, treat it as service feedback. That honesty also helps the salon review removal cases that do qualify.
A worked example: the no show who left one star
This is a made up example to show the steps. It is not a client case.
A nail studio sees a new Google review saying a technician caused an infection during a gel manicure on a Saturday. The owner checks the booking app. The name appears once, for a Saturday slot marked as a no show. The card terminal has no payment from that name. The rota shows the technician named was on holiday.
- She captures the review with the date visible.
- She notes the booking, no show flag, payment search and rota in three short lines.
- She reports the review on Google as content that does not reflect a genuine experience.
- She posts a short reply saying the studio cannot find a visit matching the review and invites the reviewer to call.
- She does not name the client or mention the no show in public.
The decision is Google’s. The owner has done everything a platform needs to see in a salon review removal case.
Rules on review requests
In the US, the FTC’s final rule on consumer reviews, announced on 14 August 2024, bans buying reviews that must be positive or negative and suppressing reviews through groundless threats or intimidation. The Consumer Review Fairness Act also stops businesses using form contracts to ban or penalise honest reviews, as the FTC’s guidance explains. So a free blow dry for five stars, or a booking term that forbids bad reviews, are both off the table. Clean habits keep your salon review removal cases credible.
How long it takes
Fresha aims for an outcome within 48 hours. Google’s typical evaluation time is several days. Yelp does not publish a timeline in its terms. Salon review removal moves at the platform’s pace.
If the attack has moved to social media, see Instagram content removal, TikTok content removal or Facebook content removal. Hospitality businesses face similar issues, covered in review removal for restaurants and hotels. For a single review, the instant review check is the quickest start.
How Removal Lab works
- Send the link. WhatsApp, email or the two field form. Two minutes, no long questionnaire.
- Free policy check. A specialist reads it against the platform rules and tells you honestly whether it qualifies.
- We build and file the case. The right policy, the right channel, the evidence attached. We handle the appeal too.
- Pay only when it is gone. No upfront payment on qualifying cases. If the platform says no, you owe nothing.
What we will never do
- Promise a removal. The platform decides, not us.
- Post fake reviews or pay anyone to delete a review.
- Pressure, threaten or try to identify a reviewer.
- Charge an upfront fee on a case that does not qualify.

Frequently asked questions
Can a salon delete a Google or Fresha review?
No. A salon can report or dispute a review that breaks the rules and the platform decides. Removal Lab prepares the case but cannot delete anything itself.
How do I dispute a review on Fresha?
Go to Clients, then Online reputation and the All reviews tab. Select Actions under the review, choose Dispute review, pick a reason and click Submit.
How long does Fresha take to decide?
Fresha says it aims to give an outcome within 48 hours. You can report a review within 3 months of it being posted.
Which salon reviews qualify for removal?
Reviews from people who never had an appointment, reviews linked to former staff, personal attacks and reviews with another person’s private details often qualify. Honest complaints about results or price stay.
Can I offer a discount for a better review?
No. Fresha bans offering anything in exchange for changing or removing a review and the FTC rule bans buying reviews that must be positive.
Do I pay for salon review removal if it fails?
No. If your case qualifies there is nothing to pay upfront. You pay only when the review comes down.
