Hiring is hard enough without a former employee writing fan fiction about your office. Glassdoor review removal is possible when a review breaks Glassdoor’s community guidelines. It is not possible just because a review is harsh. Removal Lab reads each review against the rules, tells you honestly which ones qualify and files the report with the evidence Glassdoor needs. No upfront payment on qualifying cases.
Glassdoor review removal in one minute
Glassdoor removes reviews that are fake, that reveal private details, that contain threats or hate, or that were written by someone with no real employment experience. Glassdoor keeps reviews that are simply negative. We help you tell the difference and build the case.
Which Glassdoor reviews can be removed?
Glassdoor publishes community guidelines. These are the areas that usually matter for employers.
| Reason | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| Not a genuine experience | The reviewer never worked at the company or describes a role that does not exist. |
| Private information | Names, contact details or private facts about a colleague. |
| Threats, harassment or hate | Content aimed at a person rather than the workplace. |
| Conflict of interest | Reviews from competitors or people paid to post. |
| Off topic | Content about something other than working at the company. |
A one star review that says the pay was low and the hours were long is allowed. That is opinion. A review that names your HR manager and invents a story about them is a different matter.
Why Glassdoor review removal needs evidence
Glassdoor protects anonymous reviewers, so it will not simply take your word for it. A strong report shows the pattern. Dates that cluster around a dismissal. Details that no real employee would get wrong. A reviewer who names a department you do not have. We gather that, write it up clearly and file it the right way.
What to do while you wait
Reply once, politely, as the employer. Thank them, state your side in two sentences and invite them to contact HR. Future candidates read your reply as closely as the review. Never argue in public and never try to work out who posted it.
Glassdoor review removal for recruiters and HR teams
If you manage hiring, a bad Glassdoor rating costs you candidates before they ever apply. We work with HR teams and founders in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Send us the reviews that worry you and we will tell you within one business day which ones have a real case.
How Glassdoor decides what stays and what goes
Glassdoor is built on anonymity. That is the point of it. A reviewer can say what they like about a former employer without putting their name to it. The platform protects that anonymity fiercely, which means Glassdoor review removal is never about finding out who wrote the review. It is about showing that the review breaks Glassdoor’s Community Guidelines, whoever wrote it.
Glassdoor says every review is checked by a moderation team before it goes live and can be flagged again afterwards. Employers flag through the Employer Centre. Anyone else can report from the review itself. A flagged review stays visible while Glassdoor looks at it. Glassdoor review removal happens only if the moderators agree a guideline was broken.
One rule to remember
Glassdoor does not remove reviews for being negative, unfair or wrong about your culture. It removes reviews that break a specific guideline. The report has to name the guideline and show the breach.
The guideline breaches that get Glassdoor reviews removed
| Guideline area | What it looks like | What to point out |
|---|---|---|
| Not a genuine employee or interview experience | Reviewer never worked there, or describes a role and office the company does not have | Details in the review that do not match any real role or office |
| Identifying a non executive | Review names or clearly identifies a manager or colleague below senior leadership | The words that single out the person |
| Confidential information | Client names, unreleased products, security details, internal financials | The confidential detail and why it is confidential |
| Harassment, threats or hate | Attacks on a person’s protected characteristics, threats of harm | The exact words |
| Duplicate or coordinated reviews | Same wording, same week, same complaints across several accounts | Links to each review and the shared wording |
| Conflict of interest | Written by a competitor, a recruiter or someone paid to post | Facts in the review that show the link |
| Wrong company | A review meant for another firm with a similar name | The details that show it is about another firm |
| Spam or advertising | Links, promotions, recruitment pitches inside a review | The link or promotion inside the review |
Note what is missing from the table. “The review is false” is not a guideline. “The reviewer was a poor performer” is not a guideline. Those points can support a report, but on their own they do not deliver Glassdoor review removal.
Why the identifying a non executive rule matters so much
Glassdoor allows reviewers to name the chief executive and senior leadership. It does not allow them to name, describe or otherwise single out an individual manager, team lead or colleague who is not part of senior leadership. A review that says “my manager Sarah in the Leeds office screamed at the team every Monday” identifies a person. Even without the name, “the only female manager in accounts” identifies a person. Glassdoor removes these because they put a private individual at risk, not because the employer complained.
What HR teams get wrong when they flag a review
- Flagging everything. Flagging ordinary criticism wastes time. Flag only the reviews that break a specific guideline.
- Arguing the facts in the flag. “This is not true, our staff turnover is low” is a reply, not a report. It gives the moderator nothing to act on.
- Trying to identify the reviewer. Glassdoor will not tell you and will not act on guesses. Asking makes the employer look like the problem.
- Leaving the review unanswered. Candidates read the employer response more than the review. Silence looks like agreement.
- Asking staff to post five star reviews in a burst. Glassdoor detects clusters and can flag the company profile. It also breaks the guidelines the employer is relying on.
How we build a Glassdoor review removal case
We read every flagged review against the guidelines line by line. We then build a short, factual report that names the guideline, quotes the passage that breaks it and attaches the evidence. The evidence is never personal data about the reviewer. It is the kind of thing Glassdoor can check for itself.
| Evidence type | Example | Why Glassdoor accepts it |
|---|---|---|
| Role mismatch | Review describes a warehouse job at a company with no warehouse | Shows the experience cannot be genuine |
| Location mismatch | Names an office in a city where the company has never operated | Same |
| Pattern of posting | Four reviews in 48 hours, three sharing a sentence | Signals coordination |
| Identification | The passage that names or singles out a non executive | Direct guideline breach |
| Confidential detail | The specific client name or product leaked | Direct guideline breach |
If Glassdoor refuses, we ask why, look at whether a second report framed under a different guideline has a real chance and tell you honestly if it does not. Glassdoor review removal with a weak case wastes everyone’s time, including yours.
The employer response that helps while you wait
One response. Calm, specific, under 120 words. Thank the reviewer, acknowledge the point without conceding facts you dispute, describe one concrete change or one way to raise the concern privately. Never mention that the review has been flagged. Never speculate about who wrote it. A good response is read by every candidate who visits the page, which is far more people than will ever see the review disappear.
What a strong response sounds like
"Thank you for taking the time to write this. We do not recognise the picture of our onboarding process, but we take the point about communication in the first month and have changed how new starters are paired with a mentor. If you would like to talk, our people team is at the usual address."
Indeed, Comparably and Kununu
Employers rarely have a problem on Glassdoor alone. Indeed company reviews follow a similar guideline model and we handle those on our Indeed review removal page. Comparably and Kununu are smaller but rank well in some markets, especially Germany and Austria for Kununu. We check all of them when we take on Glassdoor review removal, because a candidate searching your company name will see whichever one Google decides to show first.
Who this service is for
Founders who have just seen a review that names them personally. HR directors with a reviewer who has leaked a client name. Talent teams in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia who are losing candidates at the offer stage and suspect the Glassdoor page is why. Recruiters managing an employer brand for a client. If any of that is you, send the review link and we will tell you within one business day whether Glassdoor review removal has a real chance.

Glassdoor review removal: what Glassdoor’s own removal page says
Glassdoor publishes a page called When Does Glassdoor Remove User Content? It is the clearest statement of how it decides. Here is what it says and what each point means for an employer.
| Glassdoor says | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Reviews are removed if they break its Community Guidelines. | Every flag should name the guideline that was broken. |
| Its Trust & Safety team assesses every employee review before it appears on the site. | A review you can see has already passed one check. Your flag has to point to something the first check missed. |
| It does not proactively fact check every statement and generally does not take sides in factual disagreements. | “That is not what happened” will not work on its own. |
| It may remove a review if it is clear the review is false based on reliable, independent information. | Independent proof can count. Your own say so does not. |
| It politely declines evidence from parties with a vested interest in getting a negative review removed. | Point to the breach inside the review itself, such as a named manager or a leaked client name. |
| It does not remove or archive reviews based on their age. New content must relate to jobs or interviews within the last five years. | An old review is not a ground on its own. |
| Employers cannot pay to have reviews removed. Clients buying its recruiting products agree to this in their contracts. | No firm can buy a removal. Anyone selling special access is not being straight with you. |
| It will not remove a company profile just because the company asks. It might consider it if the company has been formally dissolved. | Deleting the profile is not an option for a trading business. |
Glassdoor also says decisions about content are solely at its discretion and that it does not negotiate them. That is why Glassdoor review removal works best when the report is short, specific and tied to one guideline.
How to flag a Glassdoor review step by step
Glassdoor’s employer guide to reviews lists Flag a Review as the action to take when a review breaks the Community Guidelines. Its blog post on its moderation process sets out the steps:
- Open the review on your company profile while signed in.
- Click the flag icon below the review.
- Choose one reason from the drop down menu.
- If a text box appears, explain why in 1,500 characters or less. Name the guideline, quote the words that break it and say what Glassdoor can check.
- Click Submit or Close, then Got it.
The same post explains how moderation works. Every piece of content goes through a two step process: technology first, then human moderators for anything that does not pass. A human always looks at content flagged for a second review. Glassdoor says it replies within 72 business hours after it has evaluated the flagged content and that a flag does not mean the review will be removed.
In that post Glassdoor describes its Community Guidelines in its own words. It does not allow negative comments about identifiable individuals outside the highest positions in a company. It does not accept reviews that reveal confidential, non public internal company information. It does not approve reviews with certain profanities or threats of violence. It also removes content if it has evidence that users were incentivised or coerced into leaving it. That last rule cuts both ways: a push for staff reviews can itself break the rules.
What Glassdoor will not remove
- Negative or low rated reviews. Glassdoor says it never suppresses, filters or deletes content simply because it is negative or positive.
- Factual disputes. It generally does not take sides when an employer and a reviewer disagree about what happened.
- Old reviews. It does not remove or archive reviews because of their age.
- Your company profile. It will not remove it simply because you ask.
- Content that upsets you. Glassdoor notes that something can be disagreeable or disturbing without meeting the criteria for removal.
Try the free route first
Glassdoor warns that some services charge fees for actions, like flagging a review, that you or an employer can do for free through a Glassdoor account. It also says there are no special tricks or special relationships. We agree. Removal Lab has no special access to Glassdoor. Flag the review yourself first. If it stays up and you think it breaks a guideline, send it to us for a free check.
What Glassdoor review removal costs
Removal Lab does not publish a price list for Glassdoor work. Each case is different and we would rather tell you honestly whether yours qualifies first. These are the routes and what each one costs you.
| Route | Cost | Who decides |
|---|---|---|
| Flag the review yourself through a Glassdoor account | Free | Glassdoor |
| Reply once as the employer through your employer account | Your time | You choose what to say |
| Removal Lab case review and report | Free check. No upfront payment on qualifying cases. You pay only when the review is removed. | Glassdoor |
| Paying Glassdoor to remove it | Not possible. Glassdoor says employers cannot pay to have reviews removed. | Not applicable |
If a review does not break a guideline, the honest answer is that it stays. Then the best use of your time is a calm reply and more reviews from real staff, asked for fairly. Our how it works page explains the process and what we cannot remove sets out the limits.
Glassdoor reviews in AI answers
Candidates now ask AI tools what it is like to work somewhere. Google says its AI Overviews and AI Mode show links to supporting web pages. To be one of them, a page must be indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet. A Glassdoor page about your company that meets that test can be used like any other page.
When Glassdoor removes a review, it leaves the source page. Google’s own guidance notes that recrawling a page can take from days to months, so an AI answer may lag behind the change. We could not find official guidance from other AI assistants on how they choose sources, so we do not guess. Our AI reputation management page covers what can be done.
How Removal Lab works
- Tell us what is out there. Send the link or a screenshot. It takes two minutes.
- We check it against the platform rules. A real specialist reads the content and tells you honestly whether it qualifies. No charge for this.
- We build the case and file it. Evidence, the right policy, the right channel.
- You pay only when it is gone. No upfront payment on qualifying cases. If the platform says no, you owe nothing.
What we will never do
- Promise a removal. Platforms decide, not us.
- Post fake reviews or pay anyone to delete one.
- Threaten or pressure the person who posted.
- Take money upfront for a case that does not qualify.
In the United States the FTC rule on consumer reviews, in force since late 2024, bans fake reviews and bans suppressing reviews through threats or intimidation. Working by the rules is the only way that protects you.
