Locked up after a long Saturday in Deep Ellum, checked your phone and found three one star reviews from people nobody on your team remembers serving? Review removal Dallas businesses can count on starts with the platform’s own rules: Removal Lab checks each review free and, when it breaks the rules of Google, Yelp, Nextdoor, Angi or the BBB, files a report with the evidence attached.
Honest reviews stay up, even the harsh ones. Fake reviews, reviews from rivals or former staff, reviews meant for a different business and posts that share private details can be reported. A specialist replies within one business day. There is no upfront payment on qualifying cases and you pay only when the content is removed.
Removal Lab has no Dallas office. We serve Dallas remotely from New York and Toronto. This page covers what makes review removal Dallas cases their own: the five sites Dallas customers read, the Texas anti SLAPP law that makes suing a reviewer risky and the federal rule that covers every review a business asks for.
Review removal Dallas in one minute
Google does most of the selling, with Yelp for restaurants, Nextdoor for neighbourhood word of mouth, Angi for home services and the BBB for complaints. Each platform decides on its own rules. Texas law gives a reviewer a fast way to throw out a lawsuit aimed at their speech, so the platform route nearly always comes first. Every review removal Dallas case we take targets a review that is fake or breaks the rules.
Where Dallas customers read reviews before they call
Dallas runs on short lists. Someone in Lakewood needs a plumber, someone in Uptown is choosing a med spa and someone in Oak Cliff wants a late night taco spot. Most glance at Google first. Some ask the neighbours on Nextdoor, home service buyers check Angi and a few look up the BBB before a big contract. So review removal Dallas work is rarely about one site. The same angry customer, or the same fake account, can turn up in two or three places.
| Platform | Who in Dallas leans on it | What its rules act on | How a business reports |
|---|---|---|---|
| Almost every local business | Fake engagement, posts on a competitor’s listing, conflicts of interest, off topic rants, personal information, unsupported allegations of wrongdoing | Read reviews, Report icon, a reason, Send report. One appeal per review | |
| Yelp | Restaurants, bars, salons, auto shops | Fake or defamatory reviews, paying anyone to post or remove a review, threats and harassment | Reviews page of your business account, then Report Review |
| Nextdoor | Cleaners, landscapers, handymen, local shops | Negative reviews of a service provider with personal attacks, public shaming, libel or name calling. Incentivised reviews count as fraud | The flag option on the post or comment, then the reason that fits |
| Angi | Contractors, HVAC, roofing, remodelling | Reviewers linked to or competing with the company. Private information. Comments unrelated to the work | Angi checks feedback before posting. Its public FAQ does not list pro dispute steps |
| BBB | Bigger ticket jobs and contracts | Anonymous reviews and paid reviews. BBB confirms a marketplace interaction took place | Send BBB a response explaining your position |
Google review removal Dallas: what Google’s policy covers
Most Google review removal Dallas requests turn on a handful of lines in Google’s policy. Google wants content “based on your experience” at a specific location. It bans offering incentives such as payment or discounts, posting on a competitor’s place to undermine it and reviewing with a conflict of interest, which “may include current or former employment”. Its offensive content rules cover “unsubstantiated allegations of unethical behavior or criminal wrongdoing”.
Google is just as clear about the limits. Only reviews that break its policies are eligible for removal and Google “doesn’t get involved in conflict between businesses and customers”. Our Google review removal service page shows how we match a review to the exact policy. Our guide to Google review policy violations explains each reason in the report menu.
What review removal Dallas businesses can report
These patterns come up again and again in review removal Dallas requests. Each one maps to a rule a platform has written down.
A burst of reviews from strangers
Several one star reviews in a short window, from accounts with no history, describing visits nobody can find. Google’s fake engagement rules exist for this. If a whole wave hits at once, see review bombing removal.
The rival across town or the manager who left
Google bans posting on a competitor’s place to undermine it and its conflict of interest rule can cover current or former employment. Yelp’s business terms forbid writing reviews for your competitors. If the profile leads back to a rival or a former employee, that link is the evidence.
Accusations with nothing behind them
“They are crooks” with no facts is different from “the final bill was higher than the quote”. Google treats unsupported claims of criminal wrongdoing as offensive content. Honest complaints about price or delay are not.
Names, phone numbers and home streets
Google bans posting personal information without consent and Nextdoor bans posting personal contact details. Angi asks reviewers not to publicise other people’s private information. A review that lists your technician’s phone number can be reported even if the customer is real.
A review that comes with a price tag
If someone says the review comes down once you pay or refund them, do not engage. Yelp’s terms ban being paid to remove a review and Google’s review help points to a separate route for extortion. Our page on Google review extortion shows how to report it.
Fake review removal Texas: what the Texas Citizens Participation Act changes
Plenty of Dallas owners ask the same thing after a fake review: can I just sue? The Texas Citizens Participation Act, Chapter 27 of the Civil Practice and Remedies Code, is the state’s anti SLAPP law. Its stated purpose is to safeguard the rights to petition, speak freely and associate freely, while still protecting the right to file meritorious lawsuits for demonstrable injury.
For review removal Dallas cases, the Act matters because it makes a lawsuit against a reviewer slow, uncertain and possibly expensive. We read the bill texts that created and amended it on the Texas Legislature’s website. This is general information, not legal advice. Our review removal Houston page covers a different Texas law, the Defamation Mitigation Act.
| What the Act says | Section | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Free speech means “a communication made in connection with a matter of public concern”, which now includes “a subject of concern to the public” | 27.001 | A public review of a local business may fall inside the Act. A court decides. |
| A motion to dismiss must be filed no later than the 60th day after the lawsuit is served | 27.003 | A reviewer you sue can ask the court to end the case early. |
| Once that motion is filed, all discovery is suspended until the court rules, with a narrow exception | 27.003 | Fact finding pauses while the court decides. |
| The case survives only with “clear and specific evidence” of a prima facie case for each essential element | 27.005 | You need real proof at the start, not a hunch. |
| If the case is dismissed, the court shall award the reviewer court costs and reasonable attorney’s fees and may add sanctions | 27.009 | A weak lawsuit can end with you paying the reviewer’s legal bill. |
| Some actions are exempt, including certain claims against sellers of goods or services, claims under Chapter 17 of the Business and Commerce Code and common law fraud claims | 27.010 | The exemptions are technical. Ask a Texas lawyer. |
Before you call a lawyer about a review
Report the review to the platform first. That is where review removal Dallas cases are decided. A platform report is not a lawsuit, so the Act’s fee rules are not in play. If a review is seriously false and the platform will not act, a Texas lawyer can weigh the Act, your proof and the fee risk before anything is filed. Our defamation removal page explains how legal and platform routes fit together.
The federal review rule applies in Dallas too
The FTC’s Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials, 16 CFR Part 465, covers every US business. Three parts matter most when a review goes wrong.
- Threats. Section 465.7(a) bans using an unfounded or groundless legal threat, a physical threat, intimidation or a public false accusation to stop a review or get one removed.
- Hiding the bad ones. Section 465.7(b) bans implying that the reviews you show are most or all of those submitted when you are suppressing reviews because they are negative.
- Fakes. Section 465.2 bans a business from writing, creating or selling fake reviews. It also bans buying reviews the business knew or should have known were fake.
The FTC says the rule lets it seek civil penalties against knowing violators. When FTC staff later warned 10 companies about possible violations, the agency said penalties can reach $53,088 per violation. So a Dallas business can report fake reviews with confidence, but should never answer a bad review with a threat it cannot back up. Every review removal Dallas case we take sits inside these lines. Our fake review removal page explains the signs we look for.
How to remove negative reviews Dallas customers posted, site by site
Review removal Dallas owners do themselves starts where ours does: the report button. Google says plainly: “Do not report a review just because you disagree with it or dislike it.”
- Open your Business Profile and select Read reviews.
- Next to the review, select the Report icon.
- Choose the reason that matches the rule the review breaks.
- Select Send report.
Most Google review removal Dallas cases start here. The Reviews Management Tool shows whether a decision is pending, whether no violation was found or whether an appeal has been escalated. Each review gets one appeal and you can select up to 10 reviews in an appeal.
Yelp
The FTC’s guide to reporting suspicious reviews says owners open the Reviews page in their Yelp business account and select Report Review. Yelp asks for information its moderators can independently verify. Yelp’s own guidelines page blocked our reader, so we rely on its terms and business support page. More on our Yelp review removal page.
Nextdoor
Nextdoor’s policy report, filed with the New York Attorney General, says “public shaming has no place on Nextdoor”. The flag option is available on almost any post or comment and the person reporting picks the reason that fits. Volunteer Community Leads and Reviewers handle many everyday reports. See Nextdoor post removal.
Angi and the BBB
Angi says “we check feedback before posting it” and may hold a rating in pending status while a dispute is resolved. Its pro support article on disputes did not load when we checked, so we do not list steps. See Angi review removal.
For a BBB review you disagree with, BBB asks for a response explaining your position. A BBB complaint cannot be deleted once submitted and stays on the Business Profile for three years. BBB asks the business to respond within 10 to 15 calendar days. See BBB complaint removal.
Evidence that carries weight in Dallas cases
In review removal Dallas work, a report lands better with facts a moderator can check.
- Restaurants in Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts or Lower Greenville: till records, reservation logs and closure notices.
- Home services across the Dallas Fort Worth area: work orders, dispatch records and job photos. See review removal for contractors.
- Med spas and clinics in Uptown and Preston Center: appointment books you check privately. Never put patient details in a public reply.
- Agents and builders in North Dallas: records of who you actually represented. See review removal for real estate agents.
In a review removal Dallas case, Removal Lab never asks for patient or customer files. We ask what your records show, then point the platform to facts it can check.
A Dallas example: three reviews about a cake nobody ordered
This is a made up example to show the steps. It is not a client case.
A family bakery in the Bishop Arts District is closed on Mondays. One Tuesday the owner finds three one star Google reviews, posted within an hour, all about a wedding cake collected “on Monday”. No names match an order and two accounts have never reviewed anything else. Her first instinct is to send each reviewer a letter threatening to sue.
- She holds off. Under the Texas Act a weak lawsuit can end with her paying the reviewers’ legal fees. The FTC rule also bars groundless legal threats.
- She screenshots each review and pulls her order book and a photo of the Monday closure sign.
- She reports all three on Google as fake engagement.
- She posts one polite reply: no order matches and the bakery is closed on Mondays.
- She follows the reports in the Reviews Management Tool and keeps her records for the single appeal.
Google makes the call. The strongest review removal Dallas cases are built on records, not threats.
What will not come down
A brisket that sold out early, a long wait on a Friday night or a quote that grew with the job are real experiences. Review removal Dallas owners can trust leaves those alone. For honest reviews, a calm reply and more reviews from happy customers do more than any report. See what we cannot remove and how to respond to a negative Google review.
How long review removal Dallas cases take
Google says review evaluation typically takes several days. The Yelp and Nextdoor pages we read give no time frame. BBB says complaints are generally closed within 30 days. The 60 day window in the Texas Act is a court deadline, not a platform timeline. Any review removal Dallas timeline depends on the platform, the rule and the evidence.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Dallas business delete a Google review itself?
No. A business can only report a review and Google decides whether it breaks its policies. Removal Lab prepares and files those reports for you.
Can I sue someone in Texas over a fake review?
You can, but the Texas Citizens Participation Act lets the reviewer move to dismiss within 60 days of being served. If the case is dismissed, the court must award the reviewer costs and reasonable attorney’s fees, so speak to a Texas lawyer first.
Does Nextdoor remove negative posts about a business?
Nextdoor’s policy says negative reviews of a service provider that include personal attacks, public shaming, libel or name calling are not allowed. An honest complaint without those elements is not covered by that rule.
Does review removal Dallas cost anything upfront?
Not on a qualifying case. The check is free and you pay only when the content is removed.
How long does review removal Dallas take?
Google says review evaluation typically takes several days. Yelp, Nextdoor and Angi publish no time frame on the pages we read.
