Typed your name into Google and seen TruePeopleSearch near the top, with your mobile number and the names of people you used to live with? A TruePeopleSearch opt out has two halves. One happens on TruePeopleSearch itself. The other happens in Google, where the Results about you tool lets you ask for search results showing your phone number, home address or email to be removed. This Removal Lab guide is honest about which half we could check: TruePeopleSearch blocked our tools, so we explain the Google half in full and tell you what to watch for on the site.
The quick version: Record the listing, use the site’s own removal link, then let Google handle the search result.
- Save the listing web address and a dated screenshot.
- Use the removal link TruePeopleSearch shows and finish every step it asks for.
- Open Google’s Results about you and add your name, phone numbers, addresses and email.
- On the To review tab, select the TruePeopleSearch result and choose Request to remove.
- Track the request under Removal requests and turn on alerts for new results.
- If you live in California, file a free DROP request too.
What we could confirm about the TruePeopleSearch opt out
We tried to open the TruePeopleSearch removal page and its privacy policy for this guide on 24 October 2026. The site blocked our automated requests both times. That means we cannot tell you, from TruePeopleSearch’s own words, which fields its form asks for, whether it wants ID, how it confirms a request or how long it takes. We would rather leave those gaps visible than fill them with guesses.
| Question | Status | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Which details the removal form asks for | Not confirmed | The removal page on TruePeopleSearch itself |
| Whether ID is needed | Not confirmed | The same page |
| How the site confirms your request | Not confirmed | The same page |
| How long it takes | Not confirmed | The same page |
| Whether it is on the California data broker registry | Not confirmed | The CalPrivacy registry |

TruePeopleSearch opt out step by step
Step 1. Record the listing
Every TruePeopleSearch opt out should start with a record. Copy the web address of your TruePeopleSearch listing and take a dated screenshot of the whole page. Write down what it shows. You will use this to check later whether the TruePeopleSearch opt out worked and to spot any new listing that appears.
Step 2. Use the site’s own removal link
This is the on site half of the TruePeopleSearch opt out. Open the listing on TruePeopleSearch and use the removal or privacy link the site provides. Read the page slowly. If it asks you to confirm by email or another method, do it at once and keep a note of the date. Because we could not open the page, we will not describe it field by field. Trust what the site shows you over any guide.
Step 3. Set up Google’s Results about you
This is the half of the TruePeopleSearch opt out we could check in full. In the Google app, tap your profile picture or initial, select Menu, then Results about you. On a computer or mobile browser, open the Results about you page. Select Get started or Settings and enter your name and the details you want Google to look for. Google says you can add more than one phone number, home address and email address, as well as nicknames and maiden names.
Step 4. Ask Google to remove the TruePeopleSearch result
Open the To review tab. Select the TruePeopleSearch result to see the site and the personal details Google found. Choose Request to remove. If you would rather leave a result alone, choose Mark as reviewed instead. Google sends an email confirming your request.
Step 5. Track it
Your requests appear under Removal requests. If Google approves one, it says the removal may take a few hours to take effect. If you change your mind, you can select Undo.
Step 6. Add a state request if you can
California residents can file a free DROP request, which goes to every registered data broker. We could not confirm whether TruePeopleSearch is on the registry, so check the CalPrivacy list yourself. Details are in the rights section below.
What each Results about you status means
Once you have asked Google to act on a TruePeopleSearch result, you will see one of these statuses. Here is what Google says each one means and what to do next.
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| In progress | Google is reviewing the request | Wait. Keep your screenshot in case you need to file again |
| Approved | Google will remove the result. It may take a few hours | Search your name again the next day to check |
| Denied | Google decided not to remove it and gives the reason on the page and by email | Read the reason. See the section on what to do if it does not work |
| Undone | You reversed the request yourself | Request it again if you undid it by mistake |
Google also notes that some sources, such as government, educational, news or business sites, may not offer a remove option because Google considers them valuable to the public. If a result on one of those sites shows your details, the removal has to happen at the source.
Why TruePeopleSearch listings come back and how to watch for them
We could not open anything TruePeopleSearch publishes about reappearing listings. What we can say is how people search listings behave in general. They are built from records that keep changing, so a move, a new phone line or a new public record can produce a fresh listing that does not match the one you removed. Treat this as general experience, not a TruePeopleSearch statement.
The good news is that Google can do the watching. Google says Results about you checks regularly for results matching your name and personal details. After your first notification, you get a new one whenever new matching results appear. You can choose email or app notifications. Google adds that some of these features are still rolling out to adults in certain markets.
- Keep your list of addresses and phone numbers up to date in Results about you.
- Search TruePeopleSearch for your name every three months and after any move.
- Repeat the TruePeopleSearch opt out for any new listing you find.
What if the TruePeopleSearch opt out does not work
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| The listing is still on TruePeopleSearch | Check you finished every step on the site, then try again with the exact listing address |
| Google denied your request | Read the reason Google gives. If the page also threatens you or gathers a lot of your details, try Google’s personal information request form |
| A new listing has appeared | Run the TruePeopleSearch opt out again for the new address and add it to Results about you |
| You live in California | File a DROP request and a CCPA deletion request if the site is a registered broker |
| You are being harassed using the listing | Keep evidence and get help. See the last section |
Google’s personal information policy says it can remove doxxing content, including pages with a significant amount of aggregated personal information without a legitimate purpose, or your details shared alongside threats. Use Start removal request and give the web addresses. Our guide on removing personal information from Google walks through that form.
Remove the old TruePeopleSearch result from Google
If the listing has gone from TruePeopleSearch but Google still shows the old title, use Google’s Refresh outdated content tool. Select Request refresh, enter the old address on the Page tab and select Submit. Google says it can only remove things from Google Search, so the TruePeopleSearch opt out on the site and the Google request are separate jobs. Both are worth doing. Our guide on how to remove your name from Google explains what Google will and will not remove for a name search.
State privacy rights and the TruePeopleSearch opt out
California Consumer Privacy Act. The California Attorney General says you can make a request to know what a business holds about you up to twice a year, free of charge. You can also ask it to delete what it collected from you, correct mistakes and stop selling or sharing your information. Businesses must answer requests to know, delete and correct within 45 calendar days, extendable to 90 with notice. You can authorise another person, or a business registered with the California Secretary of State, to make a request for you.
DROP. The California Privacy Protection Agency runs DROP, the Delete Request and Opt out Platform, under the Delete Act. It is free for California residents, who confirm residency through the California Identity Gateway. A parent can file for a child and a family member for an elderly relative. From 1 August 2026, registered brokers must check DROP at least every 45 days. Status updates can take up to 90 days. DROP reaches registered brokers only, so check the CalPrivacy registry for TruePeopleSearch.
Public records. The Attorney General notes that publicly available information, such as government records, is not personal information under the CCPA. That is a common reason requests are refused, so the TruePeopleSearch opt out on the site still matters.
Protected people. The same page says some people, such as law enforcement officers, public officials and Safe at Home participants, can ask that their address is not posted publicly.
Mistakes to avoid with the TruePeopleSearch opt out
Most failed attempts at a TruePeopleSearch opt out come down to one of these.
- Relying on a guide’s field list. We could not verify the form. Follow what the site shows you on the day.
- Skipping Google. Results about you is the one part of this you can check end to end.
- Adding only one phone number. Google lets you add several. Add old ones too.
- Undoing by accident. The Undo button reverses an approved removal.
- Assuming DROP covers every site. It covers registered data brokers only.
A worked example
This is a made up example to show the steps. It is not a client case.
Imagine a hospital pharmacist in Los Angeles who decides to do a TruePeopleSearch opt out after finding a listing with her mobile, her current flat and two old addresses. She saves the listing address and a screenshot, uses the removal link on the site and confirms when it asks her to. Then she opens Results about you in the Google app, adds her name, her mobile, her old landline and both addresses. She then requests removal of the TruePeopleSearch result and two others from different sites.
Two of the three requests are approved within days. One is denied because the page is a business directory. She leaves that one and turns on email alerts. As a California resident, she also files a DROP request. Four months later Google emails her about a new result showing her mobile. She repeats the TruePeopleSearch opt out for the new listing and asks Google to remove it.
When help makes sense
A single TruePeopleSearch opt out is usually something you can manage on your own. Help makes sense when Google keeps denying requests, when your details are spread across many sites or when someone is using them to frighten you. Our personal reputation removal service looks at every result and the route for each. You can also see what we cannot remove before you get in touch.
Removal Lab offers a free, confidential case review. A specialist reads the content against the platform rules and replies within one business day. On qualifying cases there is no upfront payment and you pay only when the content is removed. We do not work for TruePeopleSearch, Google or any other platform, we cannot delete anything ourselves and we never promise a removal. The platform decides.

Frequently asked questions
How do I opt out of TruePeopleSearch?
Use the removal link on TruePeopleSearch and finish every step it shows. We could not open the page to confirm its fields, so follow the site rather than any copied list.
Can Google remove a TruePeopleSearch result?
You can ask. Google’s Results about you tool lets you request removal of results showing your phone number, home address or email. Google reviews each request.
Does the TruePeopleSearch opt out need ID?
We could not confirm this because the site blocked our tools. Google’s Results about you asks for your name and the contact details you want it to find.
How long does it take to remove a TruePeopleSearch result from Google?
Google says approved removals may take a few hours to take effect. The time to review a request is not published.
Does DROP cover TruePeopleSearch?
DROP reaches registered data brokers only. We could not confirm whether TruePeopleSearch is registered, so check the CalPrivacy registry.
Why does my TruePeopleSearch listing keep coming back?
People search listings are rebuilt from changing records, so a new record can create a new listing. Turn on Google’s Results about you alerts to hear about new results.
