Nothing says “join our team” like a one star Indeed review written by someone who was never on it. Indeed review removal is possible when a company review breaks Indeed’s guidelines. Removal Lab reads each review, tells you which ones have a real case and files the report with the evidence Indeed needs. No upfront payment on qualifying cases.
Indeed review removal in one minute
Indeed removes reviews that are fake, that reveal private details, that contain harassment or that come from someone with no genuine employment experience. Honest negative reviews stay. We help you tell them apart and act on the ones that qualify.
Which Indeed reviews can be removed?
| Reason | What it looks like |
|---|---|
| Not a genuine employee | A reviewer who never worked for you, or describes a job that does not exist. |
| Private information | Names and personal details of colleagues or managers. |
| Harassment or hate | Attacks on a person rather than the workplace. |
| Duplicate or spam | The same review posted several times. |
| Off topic | Content unrelated to working at the company. |
Why employers need evidence for Indeed review removal
Indeed keeps reviewers anonymous. A report that says “this is unfair” goes nowhere. A report that shows the reviewer named a department you do not have, or posted the same text on three sites, gets read. We put that case together for you.
Reply once, then let it go
Indeed lets employers respond. One calm reply that thanks the person and states your side in two sentences is enough. Candidates notice the tone far more than the complaint.
Indeed review removal for growing teams
If you are hiring fast, your Indeed page is often the first thing a candidate reads. We work with HR teams and founders in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Send us the reviews and we reply within one business day.
What Indeed company review guidelines actually say
Most Indeed review removal requests fail for one reason. The employer reports a review for being unfair, but unfair is not a rule. Indeed publishes its own company review guidelines and those are what a moderator reads your report against. Here are the parts that matter most to employers.
| Indeed rule | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| One review per person, per company | Two near identical reviews from what looks like one person are worth reporting. |
| Reviewers can only review companies they work for or have worked for | A review from someone with no link to your business does not belong there. |
| Do not state opinions as facts | “Management was cold to me” is allowed. “The owner steals from staff” stated as fact is a different matter. |
| No reviews of the company products or services | A customer complaining about a delivery or a refund has posted in the wrong place. |
| No personal information about you or others | Full names with private details, phone numbers or home areas of staff are a clear breach. |
| No unlawful, threatening, abusive, libellous or defamatory statements | Threats against a named manager or false claims of crimes can be reported. |
| No non public information or legal claims | Internal figures, client names or claims about lawsuits may be removed. |
| Reviews may be removed if the reviewer was paid or forced or pressured to post | This works both ways. It also covers glowing reviews an employer pushed staff to write. |
Indeed also says it does not edit or change reviews. A review is either kept exactly as written or removed. That is why every request has to point to a specific rule, not to a tone you dislike.
How to report a review on Indeed yourself
You do not need a service to file the first report. Indeed explains the steps in its help centre and they take under a minute.
- Open the review on your Indeed Company Page.
- Click or tap the three dots on the review.
- Select Report review.
- Choose the best reason from the menu. Pick the one that matches the actual breach, such as personal information or harassment.
- Click or tap Submit.
Indeed says it reviews reported content and removes it within 1 to 2 business days if it breaks the guidelines. It also says it will not update you about the outcome, so check the page again after a few business days. Indeed also tells employers they can report reviews that break its terms by submitting a request through its support contact form. That route suits cases where you need to explain more than a menu allows.
Before you start an Indeed review removal request
Read the review once more and write down the exact rule it breaks in one sentence. If you cannot do that, the report will probably fail. Save a dated screenshot first, because you will not be told if it is removed or kept.
What evidence helps an Indeed review removal request
Indeed keeps reviewers anonymous and says it does not share identifying account details with the company. So your evidence has to come from the review itself and from facts about your own business. You never need to guess who wrote it. You should not try.
| What the review shows | Evidence that helps | Rule it points to |
|---|---|---|
| A job, site or shift you do not have | A short note on the roles and locations you actually run, with dates | Reviewers must have worked for the company |
| A complaint about a product, delivery or refund | The review text itself is usually enough | No reviews of products or services |
| A colleague named with private details | A screenshot with the personal details highlighted | No personal information |
| The same text posted several times | Links or screenshots of each copy | One review per person, per company |
| A claim of a crime stated as fact | The exact sentence quoted, plus any public record that shows it is false | No defamatory statements, no legal claims |
Keep the note factual and short. A moderator should be able to read it in under a minute and see the match. We build exactly this kind of note for every case we take. If you want to see how the policy check works first, read how Removal Lab works or try the free review check.
What Indeed will not remove
Indeed says plainly that an employer cannot delete a review if it meets its content guidelines. In practice these usually stay up:
- Honest complaints about pay, hours, workload or management style.
- Harsh opinions written as opinions, such as “the worst manager I have had”.
- Reviews from real former staff who left on bad terms.
- Reviews you think are exaggerated but that describe a real job at your company.
Indeed review removal works on rule breaches, not on how much a review stings. Reporting these wastes time and can make your genuine reports look less credible. We tell clients this openly. Our page on what we cannot remove explains the wider picture across platforms.
What to do if Indeed says no
A failed Indeed review removal request is not the end. Indeed will not tell you its decision, so the first sign is simply that the review is still there. Then you have three sensible moves.
- Check your report reason. If you picked a vague reason the first time, a clearer request through the Indeed support contact form can still help, as long as there is a real breach.
- Reply once. On a claimed Company Page you click Comment near the bottom of the review, type your reply and click Add Comment. Your reply is public, so keep it calm and short.
- Ask for legal advice only for serious cases. Indeed says it may honour subpoenas, search warrants, law enforcement requests or court orders. That route is slow and costly. It only makes sense for clear defamation, such as a false claim that someone committed a crime. Our defamation removal page covers when that is realistic.
Do not post a flood of positive reviews in reply. Indeed may remove reviews where staff were paid or pressured to post. In the United States the FTC rule also bans offering rewards for reviews of a particular sentiment.
Indeed review removal: a worked example
This is a made up example to show the steps. It is not a client case.
A small accounting firm in Toronto has one office and 14 staff. A one star Indeed review describes rotating night shifts at a warehouse and names the office manager with her full name and the street she lives on. The firm has never run a warehouse or night shifts.
| Step | What the firm does |
|---|---|
| 1. Save it | Takes a dated screenshot and copies the review link. |
| 2. Match the rules | Two clear matches: the reviewer does not describe a job at this company and the review shares personal information. |
| 3. Report | Uses the three dots, selects Report review, chooses the personal information reason and submits. |
| 4. Explain | Sends a short request through the Indeed support contact form with a note on the roles the firm actually has. |
| 5. Reply | Posts one calm comment saying the firm has no warehouse roles and invites the writer to get in touch. |
This is how most Indeed review removal cases should look. In this example the firm never tries to work out who wrote the review. It does not need to. The facts about its own business carry the case. If the review stays, the calm reply tells candidates the same story.
Rules for employers in our main markets
| Where you hire | Rule worth knowing |
|---|---|
| United States | The FTC rule on consumer reviews requires officers and managers to clearly disclose their link when they review their own business. It also bans rewards tied to a positive or negative review. |
| Canada | The Competition Bureau says employees must disclose all connections they have with the business when they post reviews about it or its competitors. |
| United Kingdom | The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 bans submitting or commissioning fake consumer reviews. |
The same logic applies on other job sites. If Glassdoor is your bigger problem, see Glassdoor review removal. For the full set of services, see online reputation management.
How Removal Lab works
- Tell us what is out there. Send the link or a screenshot. It takes two minutes.
- We check it against the platform rules. A real specialist reads the content and tells you honestly whether it qualifies. No charge for this.
- We build the case and file it. Evidence, the right policy, the right channel.
- You pay only when it is gone. No upfront payment on qualifying cases. If the platform says no, you owe nothing.
What we will never do
- Promise a removal. Platforms decide, not us.
- Post fake reviews or pay anyone to delete one.
- Threaten or pressure the person who posted.
- Take money upfront for a case that does not qualify.
In the United States the FTC rule on consumer reviews, in force since late 2024, bans fake reviews and bans suppressing reviews through threats or intimidation. Working by the rules is the only way that protects you.

What does it cost?
The eligibility check is free. On qualifying cases there is no upfront payment.
Can I report an Indeed review that is about our products?
